Office of the Dean records

Abstract:

Records of the Office of the Dean of the Columbia University School of Nursing, largely from the administrations of Helen F. Pettit (1976-1981) and JoAnn S. Jamann (1981-1986). A wide range of School of Nursing activities and programs are documented, especially curriculum, research, and student life.

Included are minutes and reports of numerous School committees, as well as records of the School's various nursing majors including acute care, gerontology, maternal-child, midwifery, pediatric nurse-practitioner, and psychiatric/mental health. Student life is documented in the records on admissions, affirmative action, grievance committee, the honor board, and the office of student affairs. Research reports give a good view of the growing importance of faculty research during this period.
