Louis Faugères Bishop papers

The Bishop papers include reprints of his scientific papers, 1928-1972; typescripts of his unpublished papers and talks both to professional and non-medical groups; an unpublished memoir of his U.S. Army service during World War II; and manuscript and typescript drafts of a memoir, entitled "The Practicing Heart Specialist," which became the basis for the much shorter book, The Birth of a Specialty: The Diary of an American Cardiologist, 1926-1972.

The papers also contain a typescript of Ruth Bennett's biography of Bishop's father, Louis F. Bishop (1864-1941), published in 1948 as Hope in Heart Disease: the Story of Louis Faugeres Bishop, M.D.
