Included are meeting minutes, hospital memoranda and reports, correspondence, a press release, a newspaper clipping, a seating plan for the dedication ceremony, and a photograph of the completed wing.
History and Biography
The Mary Harkness Convalescent Home opened in 1937 in Port Chester, N.Y. to accommodate Presbyterian Hospital patients requiring long periods of recovery and nursing attention that they would be unable to obtain at home. It was established with a generous gift from Mary Harkness (Mrs. Edward S. Harkness).
Due to low occupancy and continuing financial losses, the Home was closed in 1970.
